Today, Mom, the Super Hero, is celebrating her 87th year of living with kindness and respect for herself and others.
As a tribute to her, I'm sharing this short story of deep connections.
Last week, one of Mom's closest friends lost her husband. The funeral was on Saturday.
MOM - THANKS FOR THE PUSH!!!
She called me early on Saturday morning and together we decided to show up for at least part of the funeral..
It was a stretch for Mom – after a week full of appointments. She’s become an advocate for the welfare of her fellow residents in her retirement community. Her father would be proud of his Spunky daughter and her leadership.
It was a stretch for me. I’m not normally an “early” morning person.I was still able to guide Mom to her own decision. And she said YES.
When I saw Mom and her dear friend greet each other, I imagined a thousand waterfalls singing with the sunlight bouncing off the water and creating dancing rainbows and sparkles. These two old souls connected on a level that words don’t ever express.
It was the right thing – for all of us.
